3 Business Tips from the Former HR Employee Who Founded Citrus Zone

With over 80 outlets going 100 by the end of 2019, Citrus Zone is undeniably one of the largest lemonade chains in the country. But the beginnings of the Citrus Zone is not all about profit.

Don Cenita conceptualized the business of a fresh lemon juice cart together with his friends, Joanna Dalmacio and Claire Mosquera, after finding out that he could make the taste of lemon juice more pleasing if he adds in a variety of mixes. The idea was borne out of Don’s desire to lead a healthy lifestyle

The trio was able to successfully launch and operate the lemon juice cart which they named Citrus Zone. Soon, they were ready to expand. Unfortunately, they do not have the capital to do so. That’s when they saw an opportunity to open their business for franchising.

So, how did Don Cenita did it? Here are his five advice for budding entrepreneurs out there.

Know how to stand out.

Find ways on how to make your product stand out from the competitors. Position your product by emphasizing its unique benefits.

When they were starting, other lemonade brands were offering sugar syrup additives. What Don’s team did was to provide honey lemon variety with ginger, cayenne pepper, and other natural ingredients. They also offered different flavors to suit the needs of their regular customers such as coffee vanilla with lemon for their clients from the BPO and Lychee Chia taste for people who are trying to lose weight.

Innovate while staying authentic to your brand.

Consistency is essential in maintaining your brand, but from time to time, you also need to inject something to your product to add value to your customers. While other brands offer exciting flavor, some only use artificial flavoring. At Citrus Zone, they choose those flavors that they can achieve using natural ingredients. If they cannot offer fresh fruit-based flavors, they make sure that it tea-based.
