Contrary to what other people believe, product photography is not just something that you do with a point and shoot camera or a smartphone.

1. Planning

Like what was said earlier, product photography is not something you take lightly. You have to properly plan your shoot. Start with the type of photos that you need, do you need an outdoor shoot or just an indoor one? Do you need models or just the products? Do you need natural light or studio lights will do?

2. Photoshoot

This is where the action begins. You have already determined what photos you need and you already planned your photoshoot. Now you get your products ready and make sure you have your equipment and lighting with you. Make sure your camera settings are optimized for the kind of photo that you need and your lighting should be the best one for your product.

3. Post-production

This is where the polishing begins. Once you are done with the photos, you may now begin processing the photos. For products in the e-commerce field, you usually remove the background and edit it to a white one, so that your product will be easier to see. Retouch and blemish removals are also done in this step to make sure your photo looks perfect when your customers see it.

4. Publishing

This is where you start sharing your photos. Do you have a website? If so, make sure your branding and editing are at par with how your website looks like. Otherwise, if you use platforms like Shopify, make sure that you properly tag your photos and provide it with the correct SEO tags and meta descriptions to make sure that it can be searchable in the platform’s search engine.
