AIM to Offer Free Online Business and Technology Courses

Good news for entrepreneurs who are interested to pursue higher education-the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), a pioneer in management education in Asia, will soon be offering short business and technology online courses for free.

During a press briefing to officially launch AIM’s brand new logo, President and Dean Jikyeong Kang announced that the graduate business school is already in talks with edX, the online learning platform founded by MIT and Harvard University. The institute is already developing a few courses particularly in the areas of data science.

Kang said: ”With edX partnership, we hope to be able to offer many of these courses which will be free to anybody not just in the Philippines but also in the region.”

“We want to think of more ways to stay true to our mission,” she added.

The international management school internationally accredited with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business offers Master in Business Administration as well as Master in Development Management degrees. Aside from these, AIM also offers a number of short courses, which focus on general management, operations, innovation, leadership, marketing and finance, that last from two days to four weeks.

Although the short courses are more expensive compared to executive education provided by local schools, Kang explained that they are relatively inexpensive compared to similar courses offered in the region.

Students who wish to get a formal certification for their completion of the short online courses will have to pay a minimal fee.

Kang said: “If you want certification for the knowledge you have acquired, there will be a small fee. That’s normally the edX style.”

Founded in Manila in 1968 by the Harvard Business School in partnership with prominent business leaders and other  key academic institutions in the country, AIM has come up with over 43,000 graduates. Many of them have become leaders of the biggest companies in the Philippines.
