David graduated with a degree in Business Management major in Computer Applications at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Many would be impressed to know that the young Kapuso actor is also a successful businessman. He was quoted in an article in the Manila Bulletin as saying, “I’m into the food and beverage business, and I have a construction company.”

David owns four food businesses, namely Kuya Korea, Sobra Comfort Food, Sobra Cafe, and As Nature Intended. Impressively, he opened them during the height of the pandemic.

“During the pandemic, we’re all bored. I would say it made me think. I was able to think. I tried reading books. I was just so bored that I used my brain,” David told Philstar.

“Pre-pandemic, my focus was really showbusiness. And then COVID happened, and then, of course, you can’t leave yourself depressed so from there I was trying to look for opportunities,” he added.

Nature Intended, his company, is an online store where you can buy healthy alternatives to almost anything, from food to other products. Meanwhile, Kuya Korea, Sobra Comfort Food, Sobra Cafe are all food businesses that he described as being focused on his comfort food.

David’s Sobra Cafe is a beautiful restaurant in Alabang that became popular online because many of the actor’s fans would wait there to take photos and interact with him.

In an interview with F&B Report, David said he doesn’t want his business to depend solely on his popularity as an actor. He wants to keep them running because of the quality food and service they provide. He said, “Lagi kong sinasabi sa chef namin na we have to have food that people deserve.” [I always tell my chef that we need to serve food that the people deserve.] This is the same advice that Maricar Reyes gives to aspiring food entrepreneurs.

Being a successful business owner and actor requires a unique combination of skills. More importantly, you need a lot of determination and hard work. So, good job, David!
