Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes officially launched DingDong PH, a tech startup that’s both a deliver service and e-commerce platform. The 2-in-1 platform caters to riders, businesses, and communities, bringing them together through an easy-to-use app.
How DingDong PH Started
According to the actor, the idea started when he helped out at the flower shop of his wife Marian Rivera-Dantes.
After making deliveries for Flora Vida, he realized that this kind of thing is going to be a good business, particularly because more people are staying at home these days and simply ordering stuff online.
Together with some friends, he launched DingDong PH that first catered to those who are in need of a delivery rider.
When Dingdong posted photos of himself modeling the company and making deliveries using his bike, decked out in purple safety gear with a food box attached to the motorcycle, a lot of people thought that it was just a prank or sort of publicity for a movie.
But the actor was serious about this business, knowing that it would also bring jobs to many people amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Months later, DingDong PH already has over a dozen riders and recently launched the e-commerce arm of the business. Launching the service in partnership with Multisys Technologies Corporation, led by David Almirol Jr., Dingdong announced that the app may be accessed via app or a web browser.
Users can do pre-booked or on-demand deliveries. Just like other similar apps, the user can monitor the real-time status of the delivery, including rider location, traffic, and estimated time of delivery.
To ensure rider safety, Dingdong also partnered with Motoworld to provide the riders with SMK helmets, gloves, and even elbow and knee protectors. The helmets even come with the brand’s logo. The riders also need to undergo strenuous training on riding skills and safety throughout the recruitment process.
For everyone’s safety, riders are also trained for food sanitary handling and disaster preparedness.
