Former Carwash Boy, Now a Millionaire Who Owns Several Businesses

Born poor, Edmar Batac experienced hardships while growing up. He had done various odd jobs, including being a carwash boy. Who would have thought that he would eventually become a millionaire, owning several businesses and fleets of SUVs as well as delivery vans?

Growing up in a broken family, he experienced additional hardships when he was passed on from one relative to another. He was a burden in the family and though he was later taken back by his mother when she remarried, he was made to live with guilt that he later just tried his best to support himself.

In a bid to support his studies, Edmar took on odd jobs to earn money. He sold vegetables, became a computer shop assistant, a parking boy, and later a carwash boy where he would earn Php100 a day.

He would become an OFW but didn’t find success there. Back in the Philippines, he decided to enroll in TESDA after learning that he would receive an allowance of Php8,000 for attending his chosen course. So, he enrolled to become a barista.

Using his savings and the money he received from TESDA, he put his new skills to use by putting up a coffee cart. This would eventually bring him success – and millions!

At first, he only had one cart that he would take to places where he knew there would be a lot of prospective customers, such as the beach during summertime. As the business grew, Edmar began to acquire the things he had only wished for in his younger days.

He owned a car, had a house to call his own, and married the woman of his dreams.

But he did not stop there. He attended seminars to enrich his experience and invested in more carts.

Today, he is franchising over 20 food cart business concepts, owns more than 250 food cart branches across the Philippines, and has several delivery trucks and SUVs — certainly a far cry from the poor carwash boy he had been in his youth.
