Former IT Head Earns Big Selling Coffee in the Streets, Plans to Continue New Business

As a former IT head, we could imagine how much he’s earning per month, but Mong decided to create Cityboy Brew to sell coffee in the streets on his Japanese Surplus bike with a trailer.

Today, he’s the mobile coffee shop’s Principal Brewer and has expanded the business, modifying the name to Cityboy Crew – and no longer has any plans to go back to the corporate world so he can continue with his business.

On Facebook page Mobile in MNL, Mong shared that he first started selling stuff online and was also doing photography on the side.

He got his eureka moment one day when a client hired him for a product shoot of their coffee business. The client gave him so much coffee that their house smelled like it the entire day.

Starting and Growing Cityboy Brew

Realizing that he loved the smell of coffee and it didn’t bother him at all, he thought of starting a coffee business by selling some in the streets. Using his bike modified with a trailer, he set out to sell his coffee.

First, he began selling at Marcos Highway.

But things didn’t go as he planned. For the first two weeks, he barely had any sales. The only people who bought from him were his sibling and a friend. Worse, the guard told him to move someplace else.

He tried selling under the bridge. Again, the guard told him to move to the spot where he’s now selling.

Yet Mong didn’t give up. Soon, people came all the way from Laguna, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija to taste his coffee.

Amazingly, what started as a one-man mobile coffee shop grew into a group called Cityboy Crew and he’s also expanded as more people wanted to franchise his business. Amazing.
