From a P250 Capital, Special Empanada Business Now Earns P10K a Day

From a small-time business, a special homemade empanada business has grown to a full store earning over P10,000 a day.

Haydee of Empanada Ahuy in Cavite shared the humble beginnings of her business on GMA’s Pera Paraan. Like any other small-time business, Haydee started making empanadas for her family. Then, she made small batches and sold them online or to her husband’s co-workers. Her customers enjoyed the filling and couldn’t get enough of their delicious empanada. So, Haydee took the risk and ventured into making bigger batches.

Little capital, big dreams

According to Haydee, it doesn’t need a huge capital to start a successful business. Most of the time, what’s important is the dedication and hardwork you put into it. At the start, she didn’t even have a rolling pin, which is essential when you’re making empanada dough. But, it didn’t stop her, and decided to improvise instead. She used a bottle to roll out her dough. With a P250 starting capital, Haydee began her special empanadas business.

As she gained more customers, Haydee decided to open her shop Empanada Ahuy in Alfonso, Cavite. It didn’t take long for it to be popular around town. They promise to make their special empanadas fresh daily. It stated, “Tikman Ang nakakadik na sarap ng Empanada Ahuy! Masarap Ang dough, masarap ang fillings!”

Haydee recalls that her initial target was only to sell 10 boxes or 150 pieces. But, she is overjoyed with the support that she now sells over 500 pieces everyday. Her small business that started from P250 capital, now earns over P10,000 a day.

The successful businesswoman advised other aspiring entrepreneurs to be hardworking and determined in their goals.

“Hindi mo kailangan ng malaking capital, ang kailangan mo malaking sipad at tiyaga. Oo, kasi kung walang tiyaga, wala susuko ka na lang,” Haydee shared.

Empanada Ahuy is now a booming business

Empanada Ahuy has over nine flavors for its customers to enjoy. They have 5 kinds of savory empanadas: Ham and Cheese, Spicy Tuna ala King, Classic Chicken, Pork, and Beef with Mushroom. They also have the sweet empanadas: Mango Cheese, Ube Cheese, Cheesy Choco Hazelnut. Each piece is sold for P25 while a box of 15 is priced at P300.

Recently, Empanada Ahuy proudly shared that they were able to break their record and sold over 750 pieces in one day.

Haydee couldn’t help but be grateful. She recalled how her first customers were just her husband and three kids. Now, she has customers not just in Cavite but nearby provinces as well.

“My husband and kids ang kauna-unahang naging fans ng aking empanada. Dati sila lang ang pinagluluto ko. Ngayon, buong Alfonso na. Isama na din natin ang tagaytay, Indang, Mendez, Bailen, Dasma, at Laguna. Marami pong salamat sa inyong lahat at sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa Empanada Ahuy since day one,” Haydee said.
