On TikTok, Lovely revealed that while she and her husband, Benja Manalo, were in Singapore, they got stood up by their expected customers. She wrote in the caption, “Walang nagpakita at walang bumili!” [No one showed up and no one bought any item].

Lovely stated that they had already prepared the orders for their clients and were planning to meet them at Bugis Junction. But unfortunately, no one showed up to pick up their orders.

[We’re here in Bugis Station at 8:52 in the evening. Our fellow Filipinos are aware that I will arrive at 7 PM, but I posted on TikTok that I’ll arrive at 8 PM instead. Until now, no one showed up.]

Lovely showed the orders of coffee they had packed in their luggage, and she even prepared freebies. But despite the situation, Lovely was all smiles as she motivated other sellers that these are all part of the experiences of being an online seller.

She said, “Pero ganun po talaga. Nangyayari po talaga ‘yan sa atin. Kaya bilang mga live seller, online seller, huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa.” [But that’s how it goes. Things like this really happen. So as a live seller, online seller, don’t lose hope.]

She continued by saying that even though there are “joy miners”—people who place fake orders or fail to pick up their orders—it’s still crucial for sellers to stick to their word. Lovely said, “Wala man pong magpakita at marami mang magjo-joy sa inyo, no problem. Ang importante eh naging professional kayo at sumunod kayo sa usapan.” [Even though no one showed up and there were a lot of “joy miners,” there was no problem. The important thing is to stay professional and follow your agreement.]

But just as Lovely showed positivity, their adventure in Singapore nonetheless turned out well. In fact, a customer later showed up while they were eating and even while they were at the airport, Filipinos approached her to purchase her goods.

She explained the experience in another TikTok post and captioned, “Nagcheck in na kami, pero talaga pag-tinadhana ipagkakaloob ni Lord. Thank you, Singapore.” [We were already done checking in, but it was really meant to be a blessing from God.]

Another uplifting experience that will hopefully inspire other online sellers to persevere in the face of adversity. Lovely has come a long way as a successful online seller. She was able to build their dream house and has inspired many to become entrepreneurs.

  1. Lesson learned! You could have charge them first for the item or items they bought from you or ask for a partial payment from the MINER…just saying
