Jomary is studying BS Agriculture Major in Animal Science while managing his goat farm in Concepcion, Tarlac. Before he decided to become a goat farmer, he already went into odd jobs to earn extra for his family. But he returned to agriculture and found his passion in farming.

“Nasa puso ko po talaga and farming kaya naisipan ko pong piliin yung agriculture. Dito ko po nakikita yung sarili ko,” he shared on Pinoy MD on GMA.

Jomary started his goat farm when the pandemic began. He started taking care of three goats from a capital of P11,500. And because he really loves taking care of animals, it wasn’t difficult for Jomary to expand his goat farm until it reached over 60 goats.

From helping goats give birth, to feeding, and giving them vitamins and enough food, Jomary is a very hands-on farmer. Because of his hardwork, Jomary gets to earn over P10,000 monthly on his goat farm.

“Sa ngayon po ang karamihan na binibenta ko ay lalaki, at nagra-range po ang bentahan from “P4,000 to P6,000,” Jomary shared.

According to Jomary, aside from the financial benefits of goat farming, he also gets to enjoy potential health benefits. He explained that goat farming is relaxing and a good way to exercise.

“Relaxing po ang goat farming kasi hindi ganun ka raming tao ang kakausapin nation. Nakakatulong rin po ang pagpa-pastol ko ng kambing para maging physically fit po ako kasi araw-araw po akong naglalakad,” he added.

There’s so much opportunity for goat farming in the Philippines. There’s a huge market for goat meat because of its health benefits and there are only minimal goat farms in the country.
