A businessman in Albay is proud at how he has successfully grown his small-time pinangat business to a full-blown restaurant.

If you’re visiting Camalig, Albay, it is a must to try one of their popular dishes, the spicy and delicious, pinangat. And if you’re looking for the best in town, Dads Restaurant is the one for you.
Owned by Ronaldo ‘Dads’ Nicerio, Dads Restaurant is a favorite by locals and tourists looking for the tastiest authentic Bicolano pinangat.
Humble beginnings
Dads Restaurant’s humble beginnings is another example that a successful businees does not always need a huge capital. According to Dads, his business only started with a small investment. With ‘gabi’ leaves priced only at P50, he already started his pinangat business with P500.

Dads revealed that what made his business successful was the hard work he puts into it everyday. He said that making the delicious dish isn’t a walk in the park. It is a process that needs passion and dedication to do everyday.
“Medyo matrabaho po ang paggawa nito. Mula sa simula hanggang sa matapos. Kumbaga, dibdiban talaga,” Dads shared on GMA’s Pera Paraan.
“Dapat maayos at nasa puso mo talaga ang pagta-trabaho para mapasarap natin ang pinangat” he added.
Making pinangat
Dads also shared a few of his kitchen recipes in making his popular dish. He said one of the key things is to have good quality and fresh coconut cream. They also use clean and healthy gabi leaves.
“Ang unang sikreto po sa paggawa ng pinangat ay dapat malinis po,” Dads remarked.
Dads pinangat uses coconut cream, chopped gabi leaves ginger, onion, garlic, dried fish, bagoong, salt to taste and to make it spicy, some chilis. Wrap all the ingredients in gabi leaves and tie it before boiling them in a huge pot with more coconut cream.
Dads Pinangat Restaurant a success

Dads’ Restaurant is a real hit as he usually sells not lower than 300 pieces a day. The humble entrepreneur revealed that there is more to the success of pinangat than the food itself. He said his hard work and perseverance have been keys to his booming business.
“Sipag at tiyaga talaga ang importante para maging successful na negosyante,” he said.
