In an episode of Running Man Philippines, the team went to South Korea’s popular Little Manila, where you can find many Filipino sellers. There, they met Ate Violeta, the owner of a popular eatery in the area.

Ate Violeta explained that many sellers and business owners in Little Manila have been there for a very long time. She opened her restaurant about ten years ago, and it’s still believed that she was the last person to do so in the neighbourhood. According to Ate Violeta, her eatery once belonged to a different owner who gave it to her when she left.

“Matagal na ito. Kaya lang noong nag-for good na ‘yung tao, hindi na siya babalik, ibinigay na niya sa akin,” Ate Violeta shared.

Ate Violeta had a challenging life in the Philippines before she married a Korean and settled in South Korea. She had an eatery back home, and she had to raise 6 siblings. She had a sister who married early but had a difficult marriage with a Filipino. Because of this, Ate Violeta said in jest that she was even more motivated to marry a Korean. With the help of a friend, she really did meet a Korean while in Manila.

“Nagpunta ako sa Maynila, sa simbahan, doon ko na-meet ang asawa ko,” she recalled.

So, she left her eatery, fulfilled her dream of marrying a Korean, and settled in South Korea. She now has 2 children and manages a successful eatery. Now, that is proof of manifesting your dreams!

Now, Ate Violeta’s eatery earns 2 million South Korean won or around P86,000 daily. And that’s just in one of her branches. If she totals her earnings, she gets around 3.5 million won or around P150,000.

Ate Violeta serves adobo, Pinoy BBQ, some kakanins, lumpia, and many other Pinoy favorite foods. Her eatery is one of the popular go-to places for Filipinos who crave a taste of their homeland.

There have been many stories of Filipinos who found success abroad by selling Filipino foods. ‘Boy Isaw’ earns P800k a month selling Pinoy streetfoods. A family in LA also sells Pinoy food and street foods for a dollar and found success.
