If you’re wondering if gaming is a profitable business, let Sharlene San Pedro show you that you can earn a living as a digital content creator. She recently showed off her brand-new car, which she bought from her live stream earnings. Sharlene decided to make money off her passion for Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) by live streaming it on Facebook.
On Instagram, she posted a photo of her new car with the caption, “First time naka ngiti sa picture. Hahahaha. Sulit lahat ng pagod. Thank you, Lord.”
On Twitter, she also shared her happiness over her new blessing, saying that all her efforts and sleepless nights were worth it. She tweeted, “Sulit and puyat at pagod sa pagllive. Thank you, Lord.” [All of my exhaustion and lack of sleep from doing live were worth it.]
Gaming-content creators make huge bucks, especially if they have a large social media following. Sharlene signed up with Alodia Gosiengfiao’s esports and video-gaming-oriented agency, Tier One Entertainment, in December 2022.
According to an article on ABS-CBN, Sharlene started venturing into gaming when the pandemic came and she didn’t have any work. Earning a living through gaming was a pleasant surprise, and it is now her primary source of income.
“Sa pandemic talaga nag-start iyon, kasi noong time na ‘yon, walang trabaho. Hindi ko naman naisip na magiging trabaho ko sa ngayon, pero nakakatuwa na minsan, ilalagay ka ni Lord sa unexpected na basta hayaan mo lang Siya. Ngayon ito ang nagiging regular work ko, pagsi-stream,” she said. [It started during the pandemic, when I didn’t have any work. I never considered video gaming a viable work path, but I couldn’t be happier with my current situation. It’s true that God places you in unexpected places if you just let Him. Now, streaming is my regular work.]
According to another article on ABS-CBN, gamers earned huge incomes from live streaming during the height of the pandemic. Their research showed that being an online streamer lets you earn five times more than an average call center agent. In fact, the estimated monthly income of gaming digital creators is between P138,000 to P275,000 a month!
If you’re a gamer, there are more profitable business ideas you can venture into. You can start a website for gaming tutorials, launch a YouTube channel for tricks, and so much more. If you want to take this career path to a whole new level, you might need to invest in a few equipment and learn new skills to be really good at it.
