Street-Style Pinoy Mami From P2K Capital, Now Earning P100,000 A Day

Don’t underestimate the power of street foods. These humble street foods that we grew up eating can be a lucrative business venture. For businessman Jim Delos Santos his luck came through his mami pares business.

Jim or Mang Jim’s mamihan is such a hit that people flock everyday to have a taste. With the tasty broth, the noodles and the tender meat, Mang Jim’s mami is a true bestseller.

According to Mang Jim, he started his mami business on tricycle. Everyday he would push his kariton far and wide to sell his delicious mami.

“Nagsimula po ako sa kariton. Galing Cavite ay niluwas ko pa sa Maynila. Mula sa kariton, nakabili ako ng sidecar,” Mang Jim shared on GMA’s Pera Paraan.

Soon, he had gathered a huge following and customers were eager to order. Because it was hard selling on the streets, Mang Jim persevered to have a place where he could build his mamihan.

Mang Jim has moved on from his mami-trike days to owning a huge place for his customers. His mamihan is a no-fuzz place where customers order, stand and eat their mami. They dubbed it as “maming tayo” because literally you eat while standing up and there are no chairs.

Mang Jim recalled that he started his mami business with only a capital of P2,000. With hardwork and, of course, delicious mami recipe, he is now earning P100,000 a day.

Helping others

Despite his success, Mang Jim has remained humble. He said he doesn’t buy expensive things and would rather help those in need. Coming from a life of poverty, he knows the value of money and wants to extend a help hand to others.

“Ang perang ito ay pinapadaan lang ng Diyos sa akin para makatulong sa kapwa,” he said.

How to make Mang Jim’s mami pares

Ingredients are onion, soy sauce, mami noodles, beef meat and bones, pechay Baguio, onion rings, hot sauce, chili and pepper. Boil everything until the broth becomes tasty and the meat is tender. Assemble the mami in a bowl and serve.
