With everything that has been happening in the world right now, a business must be able to contribute, not only to the community but to the environment, as well.
Akkula PH is an online business established in 2017 by partners Angelique Lesaca and Nico Ballesteros. A local brand that is environmentally-conscious, they aim to produce products that are zero-waste and natural.
One of their bestselling products is a vegan lip balm that uses virgin coconut oil (VCO) that is sourced from Felipe Remulla Verallo (FRV) farm located in Leyte. FRV provides production and farm technology support to local farmers and communities.

According to the founders, FRV farm is one of the top suppliers of quality and affordable 100 percent VCO grown and pressed exclusively on the farm.
Instead of beeswax, the vegan lip balms are made from Candelilla wax from the leaves of the Candelilla plant, a Mexican shrub.
“Many of the lip balms out there are made with beeswax or lanolin, which are great moisturizers, but not vegan-friendly,” Angelique explains.
Apart from being cruelty-free, these lip balms are made to ensure that they can nourish and protect the lips from questionable ingredients like parabens, chemical sunscreens, and petroleum
Environment-friendly
The packaging of the lip balm is made from 100 percent recycled paper.
After the lip balm has been consumed, one can find seeds inside the packaging that can be sowed.

“From cap to the wrapper, Akkula’s lip balm leaves no trace of waste on Earth,” Angelique further explains.
Angelique also shared other ways of how their brand protects the environment and its inhabitants.
They lessen their carbon footprint by reducing the use of fossil fuel-based transport and by using and making innovative packaging and products.
Aside from vegan lip balms, Akkula PH also offers products suitable for home and pet care like their multipurpose spray made from sweet basil, tea tree, and wintergreen.
