They always say that don’t ever underestimate the power of a small-time business. What may seem like a small business starting at home with a simple product, can go big with dedication and good luck. This holds true for a Belen whose eatery, Rakis Food Service, made her a multi-business owner.

According to Belen, all the food they prepare in their carinderia are sold out after lunch time. They need to cook again for customers eager to eat by dinner. She shared that like any carinderia, they sell Pinoy foods and also merienda like turon. The secret to her successful eatery is simple, she learned and practiced cooking delicious foods.

“Ang asawa ko po mahilig kumain kaya inaral ko,” Belen shared on ABS-CBN’s My Puhunan.

Her successful carinderia began in a simple kariton

Belen looked back at how she and her husband, Rocky started their eatery in a small kariton. They may have had only a capital of P2,000 but their perseverance fueled their success. Belen said they would wake up at 2 in the morning to cook foods and they would roam the streets selling using their kariton.

“Kahit makatulog ako ng 2 or 4 oras, okay lang basta makaluto ako,” Belen described how dedicated she was.

Belen was also thankful at how her husband, Rocky supported her. “Nung nakita ko yung lakas ng loob niya at sipag niya, kailangan ko suportahan ang wife ko sa ginagawa niya. Kasi malakas kapag husband and wife team,” Rocky said.

Soon, they rented a stall for their carinderia. More customers discovered their delicious and affordable food. Belen’s carinderia began earning P50,000 to P70,000 a week. They serve over 200 customer in a day.

More business ventures

From loaning money for their eatery, Belen has come a long way. She is now the proud owner of several business ventures. Their family owns a spa salon and a high-end computer shop.

Looking back, Belen couldn’t believe how much effort she invested in making their carinderia a success. “Nagtiyaga ako. Ginawa ko rin 24 hours. Hands on po ako, tinututukan ko talaga ang business namin. Ako pa rin talaga ang nagluluto,” the successful entrepreneur shared. Belen’s story is an inspiring lesson on how success can be achieved with hardwork.
