As I write this, a violent torrent of rain and thunderstorm is lashing at the skies of Quezon City.
I look at the clock, it’s half-past 5PM. “Damn, that’s brutal”, I thought. It’s gonna be one heck of a commute for employees just coming out of work.
An hour later, my wife showed me a Facebook post from one of her former teachers. It was a photo of the road leading to a mall’s car park entrance. At first glance, I thought it was a picture of a creek.
I thought about my two sisters, who were probably on the road right now trying to get home. I silently wished they got home OK.
At home, at my desk, shielded from all the violent outpour of rain and hassles, I thanked the heavens for being able to work from home.
It’s one of those days when you’re extra grateful for the opportunity to earn while your wife and kid enjoys a movie or two in the living room. In 10 minutes I’ll take a break and join them.
Working from home is not for everyone. It’s definitely not always butterflies and rainbows. But today’s definitely one of those days when I wouldn’t trade it for any high-paying 9-5 corporate job.
If the promise of working from home intrigues you, look no further than this data-driven list of online jobs in the Philippines you can get right now, and where to find them.
Now let me stand up and get out of here, I got a movie to watch.
