How A Tricycle Driver Became A Farm Resort Owner

Reg Caligagan is the owner of Reca Farm and Resort, a Bali-inspired spot nestled in Porac, Pampanga. The resort is situated on a one-hectare property surrounded by nature and tranquility. But before he became a successful resort owner, Reg had to go through many challenges and hardships in life.

In a video from Summit OG via YouTube channel, they shared his inspiring story from becoming a working student and investing in the stock market to becoming a successful resort owner.

Reg was not born into a wealthy family, but his mother tried her best to support his education. He worked as a fast-food crew member while studying in college. During vacations, he also worked as a computer shop attendant and a tricycle driver. At night, he served as a barangay tanod or village watchman.

He said, “That time pag nakatambay naman, pag umabot naman ng gabi, nagtatrabaho naman ako ng pagba-barangay tanod. So, kahit paano nakakatulong na ako, at the same time, may naiipon pa ako. So, hindi lang ako umaasa sa magulang ko.” [That time when I had nothing to do, when it got dark, I worked as a barangay tanod. So, somehow I was able to help and save some money. So, I did not rely on my parents.]

Reg also learned about the stock market and the business trends in his area. He said, “Inaral ko yung stock market. Nakikita mo yung ginagawa ng mga businessman, ano yung magiging future plan dito sa isang lugar…until such time na nakapag-graduate ako.” [I studied the stock market. I saw what the businessmen were doing, what their future plans were for a certain place…until such time that I graduated.]

After graduating from college, he entered the sales industry as advised by his mentors. He said, “Pagka-graduate ko, pinasok ko agad ang sales kasi yun ang turo sa akin ng mga mentor ko. At the same time, yung mga nababasa mo [na] kung gusto mong maging businessman, yun ang una mong pasukin—sales.” [When I graduated, I immediately went into sales because that’s what my mentors taught me. And at the same time, what you read [is that] if you want to be a businessman, that’s the first thing you should enter—sales.]

He worked hard and saved enough money to start his own resort business. He resigned from his sales job and focused on his venture. Now, Reg is proud of his nine VIP villas and cabins that can accommodate two or four people each. He also has a swimming pool, a restaurant, and other amenities for his guests.

Reg’s story is an inspiring example of how hard work, perseverance, and vision can lead to success.
