Set to resume its construction activities in various project sites nationwide, Aboitiz Construction Inc is looking to hire about 1,200 skilled workers from the country.
“Amidst the massive disruption in the labor market caused by the global pandemic, we are still fortunate to be able to offer jobs to a sector of Filipino workers who need livelihood the most,” Nina Ylagan-Pedro, ACI Vice President for People, Reputation, and Corporate Social Responsibility said.
According to the construction arm of the Aboitiz Group, they will be needing project managers, engineers, safety and quality inspectors, pipefitters, welders, fitters, scaffolders, crane operators, and TIG (tungsten inert gas) welders for ongoing projects in different sites in Surigao, Cebu, Iligan, Davao, Saranggani, and Subic.
Aside from that, they will also need medical professionals such as nurses and nurses’ aides who will be tasked to strictly monitor the health, wellness, and overall well-being of the workers. This is part of the protocols mandated by ACI to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Proven track record
The ACI has been in the industry for 45 years, serving projects for local and international customers from the industrial, infrastructure, energy, utilities, and commercial industries. In 2019, the ACI has employed more than 2,000 new workers in 2019.
All shortlisted applicants are required to go through standard trade proficiency exams and rigorous health and safety protocols following the company’s safety guidelines and policies and those imposed by the national and local governments.
Once hired, the new employees will be received in a designated area for the mandatory 14-day quarantine period. The company will provide them with their daily essentials.
In its project sites, ACI also ensures that physical distancing is strictly observed in the work areas and each one is equipped with preventive and control measures such as having disinfection and wash bays, proper personal protective equipment, and constant health and temperature checks.
There are also isolation areas that may be used, when necessary.
