Filipino Specialty Foods to Take on New York

The city that never sleeps will get to taste the Filipino cuisine this coming June 23-25, 2019.

Led by the Department of Trade and Industries’ Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (DTI-CITEM), several Filipino specialty foods companies will be participating in the Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS) which will be held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.

According to DTI-CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Juan, the delegation is intent on bolstering the Philippines’ market presence and reach in the US specialty and gourmet foods.

She added that this is the first time that the country will participate in one of New York’s hottest food events.

Aiming to generate at least $8 million worth of export sales, the country’s representatives to New York’s biggest specialty food show is looking forward to a successful exhibit and to learn more from the nuances and demands of food trade in North America.

The New York Fancy Food Fair is the largest specialty food industry events in North America that showcase its industry innovations. It serves as a marketplace devoted to specialty food products.

The CITEM’s participation in the said event is a follow-up to its successful venture in the Winter Fancy Food Show which was held in San Francisco.

Featuring over 2,400 exhibitors from 54 nations, last year’s exhibitors included Whole Foods, Kroger, Formaggio Kitchen, Starbucks, Trader Joe’s, UNFI, and Southern Season.

In an article published by the Specialty Foods Association entitled, ‘Trend Watch: Summer Fancy Food Show Trends’, the Philippine food has been identified as one of the hottest food trends in North America.
