Popcorn Boy Sells to Support Self in College, Goes Viral

Many people will agree that life isn’t really fair. However, what makes others stand out from the rest is that even though life wasn’t fair to them, they try to find ways to make things better.

That’s why a young student named Bryan Kim Gonzales De Leon, a resident of Barangay Jurisdiction in Lal-lo, Cagayan, went viral recently.

He’s studying to become an industrial technologist at CSU (Cagayan State University) – Aparri campus.

During his free time and on his way to school or back home, this inspiring young man would sell popcorn.

And while some young people might be too shy or even embarrassed to sell something in school or on the streets, for fear that other students and kids might laugh at them, that wasn’t an issue for this inspiring young man.

Thankfully, the other students didn’t laugh at De Leon. Instead, they even praised him for juggling this side job or business with his studies.

The others even helped encourage other students to support him by buying his popcorn.

Some also claimed that they were his ‘suki’ (regular customers) and that the popcorn he was selling tasted good.

Working Student Even in High School

It turns out that De Leon didn’t just start working or selling goods in college.

Ma’am Lorna Baccay, the principal of Camalaniugan National High School, revealed that De Leon had always been a hardworking student.

Even back in high school, this young man found ways to earn extra cash. According to Baccay, De Leon even took a stint as a construction worker and was the one who painted the fence around her house during his free time.
