In the middle of the pandemic, a family from Imus, Cavite opened a business that enabled them to help other people.
The Cooking Dad and Brew is the brainchild of John Eric Enopia, a 36-year-old coffee roaster and a sales and technical specialist. He started this business last May, with the help of their family. As the sole baker, brewer, and seller, he was only able to produce three pieces of cassava cake and followed by two bottles of cold brew drinks with a startup capital of P5,000. They sold this first batch of products successfully.
His wife, Sheng, takes charge of purchasing and accounting aspects of the business while their two kids, Shayne and Uno manage part of the earnings which they donate for their chosen non-profit organization, ‘Save the Children Philippines’.

Depending on the size, the cost of the cassava cakes ranges from P60 to P190. Meanwhile, the coffee costs P80 to P90 per bottle. Soon, they will start offering hot coffee, just like what their clients request.
Aside from the baked goods and coffee, they also offer gourmet tuyo for P175 per bottle.
The mobile café runs around Cavite and their products sell out pretty quickly. However, things were a little difficult in the beginning.
Donations for the Kids
While they were busy with their business, the family thought of less fortunate children who may not have the means to attend and participate in their online classes.
They looked for an organization with similar advocacy and found the Save the Children Philippines which runs a program for the education of less fortunate children.

“We called them and they entertained us. We are already in our fourth month of giving them our donations this September,” John Eric said.
He advises other business owners to never lose hope, especially that running a business at this time may prove to be a challenge.
