Store Owner Doesn’t Mind Losing Profit To Treat Students

A kind store owner will remind us that when it comes to business, it’s not always about earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs choose to run a “business with a heart.” It’s about showing the values of generosity and kindness, even if it means losing a few sales. The same way the grilled balut vendor decided to let go of his business after seeing old vendors lose customers, another store owner didn’t mind giving away free snacks.

On Facebook, Jessiel Ivy Gedoria shared how proud she is of her Mama Livy. She explains that her mother is a mini-store owner who has always had a heart for students. She doesn’t mind losing a few profits to feed a hungry student, and she motivates them to study hard.

According to Jessiel, “Mama is not a teacher, but she receives sweet morning greetings from students every day. She’s not their mother, but she treats them like a child of her own. She gives snacks for free to those who are hungry but have no pennies in their pockets. She treats them kindly and asks them if they have taken their breakfast or lunch.”

Her mother is so well-loved by students that she has become everyone else’s “Nanay.” When the exam results were released, Nany Livy offered free snacks to the first 20 students who got a perfect exam score.

Many students couldn’t believe it and were delighted with the treat. Many students were also motivated to do better next time. Jessiel is truly proud of her Mama Livy’s kindness and generosity. She wrote, “Great job, Mama Livy Gedoria, for doing that to reward the students who got perfect scores and, of course, for giving that kind of motivation.”

It was a great way to show that kindness has such a great impact on people, especially the young ones. It was also great reminder of how entrepreneurs should also put heart into their businesses.
